Exiting art, fascinating history and marvellous gardens. This thrilling combination of enjoyment is offered by one of the National Trust sites, Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley, close to York. Marc Chagall’s and Joan Miró’s original prints, posters and photographs are displayed from Tuesday 15 May until Sunday 1 July.

The Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is currently exhibiting a retrospective at the Tate Modern in London. Running until the 5th June, it is well worth a visit as you see a huge progression within her life, informed by external political and personal factors.
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal
On Friday 11th May, the Medieval and Medievalism’s Research School organised a trip open to all, to the wonderful Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
Fountains Abbey is tucked away in the heart of North Yorkshire and remains beautiful to this day. Founded in 1132, the Abbey was one of the most powerful Cistercian monasteries in England. The Abbey operated for over four hundred years, until King Henry VIII demanded its abolition. The Abbey remains in wonderful order, with many of its original walls and stonework available for you to walk in and around.
