Yayoi Kusama at the Tate Modern

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal

On Friday 11th May, the Medieval and Medievalism’s Research School organised a trip open to all, to the wonderful Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.

Fountains Abbey is tucked away in the heart of North Yorkshire and remains beautiful to this day. Founded in 1132, the Abbey was one of the most powerful Cistercian monasteries in England. The Abbey operated for over four hundred years, until King Henry VIII demanded its abolition. The Abbey remains in wonderful order, with many of its original walls and stonework available for you to walk in and around.
